Here you’ll find answers to frequently asked questions about the application process and which family members are eligible to open a plan with Metfriendly.

Do I need to be in the Met to join Metfriendly?

Eligibility to join Metfriendly is not limited to just the Met as other UK police services and family members are welcome to join too. 

Serving, former or retired Police Officers and Staff plus their immediate family can open a plan with Metfriendly.

More information can be found on our Eligibility page. Contributions will need to be made via Direct Debit or bank transfer. 

What is the application process?

Before submitting your application

Before applying please read the Key Information Document and Product Particulars (where applicable) which can be found on each product page.

Please ensure you have your warrant or pay number to hand.  If applying as a relative of a police officer or staff, you will need theirs.

If you have any questions regarding your application or require assistance, please contact Member Services on 01689 891454 or email [email protected]. Please quote your warrant, pay number or application reference.

After submitting your application

Once your application has been submitted either online or through the post, our member services team will aim to process this within 5 working days.
For lump sum products we will acknowledge receipt of funds within 2 working days.

For regular savings products, payment can be made from Met salary, City salary (City officers only, not staff), Met pension and Direct Debit. One off payments can be made via bank transfer if you wish to start your policy as soon as possible.

If our Member Services Team have any questions they will get in touch via phone or email so please make sure you provide up to date contact details.

Once you receive your documents, there will be a 30 day cooling off period. Should you change your mind during this time and tell us you no longer wish to go ahead with the plan, you will then receive all contributions back. After 30 days, deductions may apply. 

Can my spouse/partner or child open a plan with you?
